Playlist Pitching Case Study: “Freedom in the Kingdom” by Justin Tweito

Oftentimes, we see Christian artists with amazing songs, talent and heart release music that seemingly falls flat. Why does this happen?

There are so many incredible songs in the world that don’t make it to the ears of the audience that would love them. More often than not, the missing piece is a great marketing strategy. That’s where a Christian marketing agency like Christian Music Marketing comes in! As a Christian agency, we love partnering with Christian artists, bands and churches to provide effective music marketing for their releases. Whether you’re releasing singles, an EP, or a full-length album, we’re here to help with music release strategy, creating designs and marketing assets, playlist pitching, social media ad campaigns, and more!

Here’s an example of how having an intentional release strategy and the right team behind you can totally change the outcome of your release.

Justin Tweito, a gifted artist, songwriter and worship leader, currently holds our client streaming record. His song “Lamb of God” has over one million streams on Spotify through the help of playlist pitching and song marketing provided by Marketing with Wisdom. He has a heart for writing songs for the Church, and it shines through in all of his music.

Justin reached out last fall wanting some assistance with re-releasing a song he felt had more to give! We agreed that the song was a great one and wanted to partner with him right away! We recommended that Justin re-release a different version (we loved the live version, but you can’t pitch previously released songs to Spotify for Editorial consideration), and we would handle the Playlist Pitching.

Pro Tip: If your song didn’t get a fair shake or it’s doing great, and you want to extend its life — release a new version! Radio, Remix, Studio, Re-Imagined, etc. This enables you to pitch to Spotify editorial a second time!

After 90 days, here were the results:

The first version of the song had been out for 7 months and had under 2k streams. The second version, which Justin hired us to pitch, has been out for a little over 4 months now and has over 140k streams on Spotify! (It’s the same song!)

This is the difference effective marketing can make.

Want to see your Christian music career and ministry soar? Consider partnering with our dynamic team here at Christian Music Marketing!

Because we want to give every artist our full energy and focus, we limit the number of songs/artists we take on every month. Contact us today to get started!
